CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
The book arrived today. Looks like an interesting read. Thanks for sharing, PyryJere!
What an interesting read! Germany and its history are fairly familiar to me from my days at the university but the book did give an insight to ordinary people's lives in the GDR, the model country for socialism that suppressed ruthlessly its citizens. It makes me so sad to read how the political establishment monitored, tortured and destroyed people and how easily it managed to make a lot of people to inform about other people. And it is even sadder that after the Wall collapsed, those persecuting mostly innocent people are not made responsible on their actions - we were only following the orders was their lame excuse. What a rotten and twisted system it was in the DDR!
EDIT: Gave the book to my work colleague.
