The Husband's Secret
2 journalers for this copy...
Mother of three and wife of John-Paul, Cecilia discovers an old envelope in the attic. Written in her husband's hand, it says: to be opening only in the event of my death.
Found at Barbados airport - either abandoned or forgotten by it's previous reader. It was entertaining but I was a little disappointed by the big reveal and irritated by the main character's moral dilemma.
Picked up at the York BookCrossing meetup.
A sprawling sort of story featuring three women who, while seeming to have little to do with each other, are linked in significant ways.
I enjoyed reading this more than I expected to. Liane Moriarty has a jokey, easy-to-absorb writing style and the characters have believable motivations. However, the denouement and its implications are rather too bluntly spelt out when any reader could have grasped what was being implied.
