"A mutilated body in Crawley. Another killer on the loose. The prime suspect is one Robert Weil; an associate of the twisted magician known as the Faceless Man? Or just a common or garden serial killer?

Before PC Peter Grant can get his head round the case a town planner going under a tube train and a stolen grimoire are adding to his case-load.

So far so London.

But then Peter gets word of something very odd happening in Elephant and Castle, on a housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans and inhabited by the truly desperate.

Is there a connection?

And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River?"

I love these books and how the author mixes science and magic together, but most of all I love it how perfectly he describes London. It makes me want to go there again. This volume was good, there were some surprises and some drama, which is what the story needed at this point. But I hope we get to see more Molly in the next book. I love Molly.

These books just keep getting better and better. I love the very British humour in it, the character development is great. And that final twist! Absolutely didn't see it coming. I can't wait to read the following books!

After travelling to Belarus and China, this book has returned to Finland. :) Thanks BaiLong! This has been my favourite series in 2019, so I can't wait to continue reading.

I agree, the series keeps getting better and better. Somehow I saw the final twist coming (there were hints along the way) but it didn't ruin it for me. I'm glad I've got the next volume ready in my shelf - can't wait to see where the story goes from here!

This has arrived safely in the Swiss Alps along with the next in the series. Lovely envelope with a great display of Finnish stamps. These arrive along with some other rings and rays so it might be a few weeks before these are ready to go, but hopefully I will have holidays soon and can catch up on my reading. Thanks so much for making this series available!

Journal Entry 12 by wingpenelopewanderswing at Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Monday, March 23, 2020
Continuing the Peter Grant adventures. This and the next have arrived here as part of a bookcrossing spiral for which I am very grateful. The sixth in the series has been on my TBR for a number of years, so I was awfully glad to be able to sign up and start reading them in order. I ordered the box set for my daughter who lives in London and am looking into doing the same for my son in Brooklyn. Just as each book in the series (so far at least) has led us into some aspect of London, be it the rivers, the jazz scene, the underground... this one takes a look at the architecture. I did look up Skygarden, but it is not the one described here. Plenty of surprises and meanders to this story, but it remains highly enjoyable. Given the fact that we are currently confined to our home because of the Corona virus pandemic, I'm not entirely sure how soon I'll be able to send this on... hopefully it won't be too long.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I took advantage of a trip to the supermarket in town to go to a post office. I usually try to send books from France as they have a very good book rate, but given the lock-down I don't know how long it will be and I feel badly watching the books to send pile up.
Now there's a whole new hoo-hah here in Switzerland to make it not only expensive but annoying - you have to register your parcel on line, with address, customs slip and weight before even venturing out. Otherwise you have to pay an additional fee per parcel. It's a strange society we live in where everyone is expected to have access to the internet, and a printer at home - not to mention reliable scales!
Anyway this and the next in the series are now heading off to Ireland. Thanks so very much for making these books available. Enjoy!

Currently reading.

5/10 Finished this one yesterday. Another fun adventure, although I sometimes lost track of what someone had to do with the story. I guess it's better to read in bigger sections instead of here and there.
I'll send mcsar a PM for this one.

I was quickly engaged by the story, but then found it hard to stay with the book. It was probably more my mental state than the book. I had a tough week or two. But boy, when it got to the last third, things got interesting and I was truly surprised by the ending, which I won't spoil. I am very happy that the next book is already in my possession and I can find out what happens.
