Guns, motorcycle clubs, firefighters, and one naive woman all come into play in this romantic suspense novel.
Rory Sorenson lives alone in an underground bunker, hidden away from everyone, except for those who want to buy her less-than-legal guns. Yes, she runs an aboveboard gun shop, but it is those off-the-radar guns that are causing the problem especially when she comes up against those who want them and ethically she refuses to sell them.
Ian Walsh has been attracted to the shy, naive Rory forever, but will she let him in? Is he a good guy (as a firefighter), or is he a bad guy (part of the somewhat sketchy Riders motorcycle club)?
Rory, too, has always been attracted to Ian, but she has been taught to be paranoid by her parents. Why else does she live in an extremely secure bunker with locked gates? Despite all her precautions, someone is targeting her, and Ian comes to her rescue. How will this change the dynamics between the two? Especially when she decides to become a volunteer at the fire department?
Overall, enjoyed the story but it is was a bit annoying all the swearing Ian stopped himself from saying. Once, twice, thrice would have been okay, but this continued all the way through until about the last twenty pages. Finally, the man actually said the f-bomb--YES!
A few what-the-tuck trends seen (smirking and a hot alpha male), and the epilogue ended in a cliffhanger, which was disconcerting because they were minor characters in the book. The next book takes up where this one left off, or at least it seems that way based on the excerpt included after the epilogue.
