Named one of the best books of the year by The Atlantic

When Nora takes the train from London to visit her sister in the countryside, she expects to find her waiting at the station, or at home cooking dinner. But when she walks into Rachel’s familiar house, what she finds is entirely different: her sister has been the victim of a brutal murder.

Stunned and adrift, Nora finds she can’t return to her former life. An unsolved assault in the past has shaken her faith in the police, and she can’t trust them to find her sister’s killer. Haunted by the murder and the secrets that surround it, Nora is under the harrow: distressed and in danger. As Nora’s fear turns to obsession, she becomes as unrecognizable as the sister her investigation uncovers.

My Review: Read February 2018
Hmm, this one just didn't really do it for me.
Atmospherically the writing was good, but I just couldn't seem to really engage with the lead character, which led to my not really caring too much about the book.
I think I was more concerned about the dog to be honest!
I found this more "family saga" than "psychological thriller", which is fine, but not when it's hyped to be the latter of the two, but you get the former.

I enjoyed this quick read. Quite good for a debut novel, although it did get a bit convoluted and there were lots of characters to keep straight.

It was fairly good for a Debut novel, with a decent story line and ploy but I thought that there were far to many characters to keep track off and the ending was rather dissapointing
