Finished this one today.
This is a thoughtful book about a difficult subject. It made me think about my end of my life and about my dad's. I think I might have to talk to him about what he wants and what he doesn't want and that's difficult. I didn't agree with the part about assisted suicide in my country and how it's a failure that apparently 1 in 35 people have sought assistance in 2012. I found out 4% of deaths in 2020 in my country were assisted, mostly by a GP.
The author talks about doing what the patient wants to keep quality of life until the end. And I find it a bit weird that he's judging assisted suicide and how many people ask for it. If that is what people want, then let people do that. Not all people want to go to a hospice. I can understand people wanting to end their life with a clear mind, knowing exactly what's happening.
I don't find this a failure inherently. Both ways, hospice and assisted suicide, sound like they have things saying for them.

The first JE of one of your books, dutch-book! As you know, there'll be more to come...

Such a well travelled book too! About a subject which highly interests me, having recently turned 70. If it doesn't interest me at this stage in my life, then when will it? So I'm curious to find out what the author has to say.

Thanks everyone for providing the book!
