I found this hefty softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. I'd listened to the audiobook of the novel a while back, and was glad to have a physical copy to release. It's a look at the history of a small Danish fishing village over a century, with intricate, interwoven tales of the different characters and their relationships - and with some far-flung travels, too, including an unlikely meeting in a remote South Sea island. Village life, childhood, romance, war-time, vengeance - and the relentless patterns of change...

I left this book on a ledge outside the restaurant on this chilly day, before having the wonderful grilled-cheese-sandwich/tomato-soup combo for lunch. Hope the finder enjoys the book!
