Tough Without a Gun: The Life and Extraordinary Afterlife of Humphrey Bogart

I found this at the Little Free Library at the Edmonds waterfront last week. So far pretty good.
It's mainly yet another biography of Humphrey Bogart and his film career. Only about the last 3 chapters are about his enduring mystique, as promised by the title.
The book is well-enough written to be an entertaining read. However, once I got to the part about the movies (almost all of which I've seen), I realized the author has been exceedingly careless about facts. Plot descriptions are often highly inaccurate (however, a few are spot-on). High budget A-movies are called "B"s. Several times, one movie is mistaken for another. And so on... Very irritating!
The book would be OK for someone who just wanted to know what Bogart was lilke. Just don't treat it as a factual reference.
