The premise of this book is that a man makes a drunken bet that he will hitch hike around Ireland's circumference, toting a refrigerator. All books of this sort are a bit contrived, but this one was such a stretch as to be just plain dumb. Still, I gave it a shot, because any story can be engaging if it's written well enough.
Well. Not only was this poorly written, it was also badly in need of proofreading. In the first dozen pages, we had "a dinner of party", "unicyclying", and "Jennifer Anniston". Even the back cover had a misspelling: "batchelor" (yikes). It didn't seem worth squandering several precious hours of my finite lifespan to see what might happen next.
Interestingly, this was a bestseller. I'm not sure on what basis that happened.
I hope the next reader enjoys it more than I did.
