I bought this book back in June at a local library booksale. I had not heard of it before I saw it at the booksale and it really didn't seem like the kind of thing I would normally be drawn to, but it is Canadian literature, and that appealed to me. I really don't know what to expect of this book, but it can be good to branch out sometimes! We'll see how it goes!

In celebration of the sesquicentennial, I have dedicated this year's bookcrossing activity to the reading and sharing of Canadian stories. I am including this book in my Canada 150 project.

This was a pretty quick read once I got around to it. It really isn't my kind of book, there was a degree of violence and sex, and a lot of language I didn't like. That's to be expected with the genre I'm sure, but they're part of why this genre is not my thing, I guess! There was one reference that bugged me a bit, about the unfinished tower at Olympic Park... but that tower has been finished for like, 30 years. It's been done my whole life. I've been up in it. It just wasn't done in time for the Olympics in the 70s.

In spite of the things I didn't like about the book, it was engaging and I found it quite readable. Montreal is a great city with lots of good memories for me, so I'm sure that helped (I find it's always a different kind of interesting when you know the place where something is set). I could see this being turned into a movie.

I don't know yet when or where I will pass this book along, but I plan to release it at some point-- not this year, I would guess. I hope it will be found by someone who enjoys this genre more, because I feel like it's probably a good book even though it's not really my thing.
