I got this hardcover from Barnes and Noble, after seeing a review somewhere. It's an entertaining, often bleak look at the lives of the superheroines and/or girlfriends-of-superheroes (or supervillains) who find themselves summarily killed to motivate their lovers' storylines - the trope Stuffed Into the Fridge.

The characters are thinly-disguised versions of famed comic-book characters, from a-character-very-like-Spiderman's unlucky girlfriend to a too-powerful member of a group remarkably like the X-Men - part of the fun is in spotting the references. But the viewpoint stories - told in an afterlife where the possibility of being brought back to life is sometimes a hope and sometimes a weapon - go into some intriguingly dark places... Fascinating and thought-provoking!
