It's less than a week until Christmas, and policeman Martin Mohlin is begrudgingly accompanying his girlfriend to a family reunion on the tiny island of Valon outside of Fjallbacka. The connection to the mainland is cut off by a snowstorm, and when the domineering patriarch, Ruben, collapses during Christmas dinner, Martin is forced to intervene. He soon establishes that Ruben was murdered, and since they are completely isolated on the island, one of the family members must be the murderer....

Earmarked for taking on my jollies, & if it does go with me, it won't be coming back! It will be released somewhere in Florida, so if you're reading this PLEASE let me know where you found it or how it got to you - it would be much appreciated :o)

Will up-date with review & actual release details on my return

The book consists of four short stories, all reasonable enough but nothing original, indeed some seemed very familiar...

The Scent of Almonds
This was very much a classic style whodunnit -a family group trapped on an island in a storm & one of them is murdered, all very Agatha Christie....even down to the let's go down to the library...oh & the pistol shots coinciding with thunder.

An Elegant Twist
This story of the death of woman has a nice twist at the end. Okay you'll spot it coming a mile off but it was still a satisfying conclusion.

Dreams of Elizabeth
A good enough but not original tale as have read another almost identical tale which I think came first! So once again, reminiscent of other authors & not really, quote,"..told in Camilla Lackberg's distinctive voice."

The Widows Cafe
What goes around comes around eh? Fine if you can get away with it...
