I found this cute softcover in the Little Free Library on N. Adams while dropping off some books of my own. It's a graphic novel about a superhero who really is a Lunch Lady - "Serving Justice! And serving lunch!" There are some witty bits about her various Batman-style technical gadgets ("Quick! To the Refridgaportal!"), with some apparently sillier than others (the Taco-vision night goggles?). And there's a nefarious plot to be thwarted, too: it seems that the school librarians, desperate to prevent video games from keeping kids away from their Read-a-thon reading contest, have come up with a plan to Destroy All Videogames (or at least the ones they can get their hands on).
While I wasn't keen on having the librarians cast as the villains, I did find the story entertaining - and the solution to the books-vs-games situation was handled deftly and with good humor all around. And I admit I enjoyed the Big Battle, in which the librarians loosed fictional beasts to attack their foes - not that Aslan would actually have let himself be used that way...
Other fun bits: one of the kids (from the "Breakfast Bunch" - they know about Lunch Lady's secret identity, and like to do some detecting themselves) quotes Admiral Grace Hopper: "It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission." (She isn't planning anything bad, mind - she just wanted to go to the library after hours to request a book. That maxim shouldn't be used to justify criminal proceedings!)
