A new author discovery! A friend of mine had this book recommended to her. I suggested it to my book group and we read it for our September meeting. It is the story of four women who struggle through their lives as first slaves then as free women in Louisiana around the time of the Civil War.
I am giving my mom this book to read first, then after she reads it she can release it into the world in one of the local Little Libraries.
