I got this softcover at the charming Montague Book Mill on a beautiful autumn day. It's a collection of fiction, memoirs, lore and history, all centered on Scotland and the sea. From poems/songs such as "The Great Silkie" to several excerpts from the works of Robert Louis Stevenson (including a reference to the lighthouses built by his ancestors - see The Lighthouse Stevensons) to actual accounts of shipwrecks, the book covers a lot of ground! There's an entry by William Roughead about a court case involving accusations of piracy; the lyrics of the famous "Skye Boat Song" (which was written over a century after Bonnie Prince Charlie's actual escape!); and homage to the legendary Scottish engineers - yes, even mentioning "Star Trek"'s Montgomery Scott...
