This is the first novel where Virgil Flowers is the main character; he has previously appeared in Sandford's Lucas Davenport series, as one of the investigators working for the BCA reporting to Davenport. I prefer this series to the Davenport series. Virgil has a lot of charm and doesn't take himself too seriously, which seem to be the reasons he has been married and divorced three times.
