I first read it in french back in 1997, I remember, while staying at a friend's in Grenoble between two job interviews, and I loved it because I had never read a graphic novel before. And what a graphic novel ! This one is mixing super-hero comics, psychology, history, politics, sociology, even philosophy in a riveting and realistic/uchronian plot. Watchmen is truly a masterpiece. That's why I wanted years later to read it in English. But I realized that in this particular case the original version had nothing more to offer for me. I'm keeping the french one that I re-read from time to time and I can release this one.

This book wasn't an easy read at all. The drawings distracted me from the text and vice versa. When the blue man came into the story and got to be a more leading character, I often lost track of the storyline.
But maybe that's just my inexperience with graphic novels. The text in between the chapters was surprising.
All in all: glad that the book came my way and I enjoyed reading it very much!

Picked up from the book table at the Bordeaux convention. I've been wanting to read the graphic novel ever since the film came out.

As is always the case, the book is so much richer and more interesting than the movie. Loved all the different layers going on, and the way there were little call-backs to the text in the images, and vice versa. The way the action paralleled the pirate story was particularly well done, I thought.
