Lightfoot

A great book about a great Canadian - what a life - the road gobbles you up - but also gives you a 'fix'....loved exploring the man and his music through the book and connection on the Internet ( You Tube etc.).....& he's still out there performing even after losing most of his original sidemen.......
Run and read don't walk to this book - will be # 1 Non Fiction book by this weekend.....

Wow - 10 out of 10 and I'm the next reader! 'Looking forward to the Toronto content, the stories behind the songs, Gord's inspiration(s), hanging with Dylan, Ian & Sylvia, Ronnie Hawkins, Joni, Anne Murray, The Man in Black and many others, Mariposa, early days - choirboy, and on TV with Country Hoedown (Lightfoot square-dancing!).
This one is Permanent Collection, but available as a "loaner". A very good read. Be prepared, is it does go on and on with tours, albums, hits, wives, etc....but Lightfoot's career has been so long - it's just good reportage. You get to see Lightfoot "warts & all" here, and thank goodness he came through the addictions, heartbreak and so-so recordings - to come out the other side, calmer, kinder, healthier. Of note: I thought the review in the Globe & Mail was lousy, starting off with an error in the first paragraph. Anyway, if you are a solid Lightfoot fan, Nick Jennings has done great research, while creating a very readable biography.
