Thief of Time: Discworld Novel 26
1 journaler for this copy...
Another book I read over the course of the Mark Reads Discworld reading project.
I had actually partly read the book before (in a bookstore, possibly in English, though I skipped a lot and didn't get to the end) and listened to the audiobook. But I bought a physical copy anyway...
While I sort of like the book, I'm not a great fan of it. The thing is, it's just kind of forgettable. I liked Lobsang Spoiler, highlight to make visible (before his ascension, afterwards he just became boring) and Lu Tze, and Ronny Soak was alright. Oh, and I adored Lady LeJean/Unity. On the other hand, didn't even remember Susan (whom I don't like much) was in it until another commenter reminded me.
Yeah, Unity's arc (Spoiler from reality auditor (I almost wrote "redditor" *lol*) to someone wishing to be fully human) was heart-breaking and, hands down, the most memorable aspect of this book. Such a great character! I loved/hated her death by chocolate.
I've decided to skip The Science of Discworld (currently being read on MRDW) and I'll probably also sit out on The Last Hero (which is about Cohen, whom I don't really like), so the next one I'll actually review is probably going to be The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents or, failing that, definitely Night Watch (so much looking forward to that one!)
EDIT: I ended up buying The Last Hero, after all, and did not regret it.
