I probably would have enjoyed this book more if I had not had such high expectations of it. Unfortunately, I had heard fantastic things about it and was a bit disappointed as a result. There were some deft moments and some nice images and turns of phrase, but there were also a number of problems. I found the pace very slow for the entire first 3/4 of the book. Also, the characters seemed somehow remote and distant. I never really related to them. And the world did not seem fully fleshed out; perhaps richer descriptions would have helped?
In the end, I would describe this novel as solid but not spectacular. Perhaps it simply did not resonate with me at this point in my life. Another reader may find it has greater impact for them.

Started: Sept. 18, 2019
Finished: Sept. 24, 2019
This was an ok read, once I got past the ick factor of the massive crush on the uncle and the uncle's lover drinking booze and sharing cigarettes with the fourteen year old June.
Also, I hated her evil, spiteful sister and I still don't understand why it was hinted at that, maybe, her drama teacher was molesting her, but then that was never followed through on.
And, for the life of me, I can't figure out the title of this book.
Are the sisters the wolves and did Finn go "home" when he died?
I dunno …
This was certainly a strange and weird book.
