I got this softcover from the charity-sale shelves at a local Hannaford's, for another release copy.

One of Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia," this one is perhaps my favorite; it was published near the end of the series but the events in the book occur long before The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. In fact, this book is the one that describes the creation of Narnia itself, and a lovely creation-myth it is. It's got a sinister magician, a wood-between-the-worlds, and all manner of very cool magics, plus a fair amount of humor. If read after the other Narnia books it provides a lot of "so *that's* why that happened!" connections, but it can be read on its own as well.
