No One Cares About Crazy People: The Chaos and Heartbreak of Mental Health in America

Beautifully written and difficult to read due to subject matter. Having worked as an RN on an acute psychiatric unit at a small community hospital, I have seen first-hand how mental illness wreaks havoc on the lives of the suffering and their broken-hearted families. The homeless population in my SoCal county has soared in the past 10 years and the underserved mentally ill make up a large part of these desperate people. The author describes the toll schizophrenia has taken on his two sons and the family. He describes in painful detail the sad state of how America treats the mentally ill in our midst. Revealing and soul crushing.
