I got this eerie graphic novel at Porter Square Books while on my way to a nearby BC meetup. It includes several of his best-known works, including "The Cask of Amontillado" (my personal favorite), "The Masque of the Red Death", "The Raven," and more.

While I find that my imagination can render scenes from the stories more terrible than any explicit artwork, the art style here is often quite effective - as when, in "Pit and the Pendulum", the scenes set in total darkness are drawn in stark ghostly-outlines-on-black. And "The Raven" features a two-page illustration of the bird in question - with subtle, creepy details hidden in its feathers!

I'd like to leave this book on the marvelous statue of Poe - complete with briefcase-of-ideas, including a raven - at Boylston and Charles St.
