This one takes up from the previous book and encounters the upheaval of war with the Hittites, resulting in a devastating war battle at Kaddish..... the Egyptian army being decimated or running away until Ramses is blessed by Amon and defeats the Hittites who then block themselves in at the fort at Kaddish. Peace seems to have been agreed on, until the Hittites backtrack on their agreement by taking Aluppo.....

Meanwhile, Ramses' brother Shanaar is discovered to be the two faced snake that he is, and decreed to live in prison, only to escape in the midst of a sandstorm. Moses is living in a small oasis with his wife's family, and had encountered the burning bush..... and is told he must return to Egypt! The magus, however, is defeated in his attempt to obliterate the Pharoah and barely manages to escape arrest!

A good story!
