Thank you mcsar for this book and the nice postcard too. My husband thinks he has visited the place pictured in the card when he lived in Japan, it looked very familiar to him. Nice coincidence.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I have to admit that I had some suspicions about this book when starting it. I have tried to read A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson and just couldn’t stand it. There was something in his style that really put me off.
I was afraid it would happen also with this book and first it was little hard to get used to his style and humour. Luckily in this book I grow to like his style. Maybe it just fits better to this topic or maybe my taste in reading has changed since trying A Short History of Nearly Everything. I think I could read more from Bryson after reading this book.
The book travels to the new winner of the Non Fiction Sweepstakes.
