I found this fair-condition little paperback at the Book Cellar, and nabbed it for another release copy. It's about a tidal wave and its effects on the survivors. There are interesting comparisons between the viewpoints of a child from a farming family, who finds the sea beautiful, and a boy from the fishing village, who says that the sea is their enemy... When the big wave hits, it changes the lives of both boys, and all the survivors are faced with the question of whether to rebuild or not. Very touching story.

[The book inspired a 1961 film. And there's a TV Tropes page on the book, with some entertaining tidbits.]
