An outstanding study of slavery in the US, especially in the Washington, DC area prior to the Civil War. The "matter of fact" descriptions of the slave trade is, to me, sickening, Living in Maryland, I'm familiar with many of the locations described in the book. I picked up this soft cover copy for $2 at the Friends of the Library used book store in North Bethesda, MD.
