I bought this from the 2 new paperbacks for £5 table in Sanders/Wyevale garden centre, Brent Knoll while travelling from the Forest of Dean to Plymouth during our recent holidays.

Amazon Editorial Review: "Alice Butler has been receiving some odd messages - all anonymous, all written in code. Are they from someone at PopCo, the profit-hungry corporation she works for? Or from Alice's long lost father? Or has someone else been on her trail?
The solution, she is sure, will involve the code-breaking skills she learned from her grandparents and the key she's been wearing round her neck since she was ten.
PopCo is a grown-up adventure of family secrets, puzzles, big business and the power of numbers."

I don't know what to write about this interesting story narrated by Alice, who works for the huge multi-national toy corporation PopCo, with background information about her unusual childhood with her grandparents, a mathematician who worked at Bletchley Park and a cryptoanalyst/code and cipher expert/crossword setter etc, complete with all sorts of environmental and planetary warnings . . . not to mention the pirate treasure map . . . .
I enjoyed the story, well I think I did, although it would take more than this to make me a vegan, but the maths and code/cipher stuff went way over my head . . . I suspect it would be a different story if I'd been able to follow it properly!
On the other hand, anyone I know who would appreciate the maths/crypto stuff is unlikely to enjoy the story - and would be even less impressed with all the preaching than I was!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

When we discovered that the Trinity Official BookCrossing Zone in Leeds had folded and all the remaining books given to charity, Deltic and I decided to swap the books we'd taken to donate there and wild release each other's books some place else . . . This is one of the ones I gave to him . . . . Happy travelling!

It was rather sad to discover that Trinity OBCZ had folded, but now this book and it's three companions is safe in my hands. Or is it?
I have a cunning plan..............
