Picked this up from the library of the cruise ship Marco Polo while travelling around the British Isles.
Still reading, but there is something I like to comment or toss a question into the air in case a native English-speaker should catch this book sometime in the future.
They mention a "foundling", explaining that it is a child born out of wedlock, a bastard, but being raised by her own mother and her family. What I have always thought a foundling to be is somebody who has been abandoned and left for others to find and look after - for example outside an orphanage, like they did in the olden days. The root to the word is "to find", isn't it? So what would be the point to call somebody who is living surrounded by her biological relatives (minus the father) a foundling?

Finished. Interesting plotting, I would not mind reading another book of this series.
Pic: This little thing is probably from the same time period as the story of this this book. The red velvet in the round center-piece is almost gone and it is missing a hind leg, only a hotel-size soap bar fits the holder, but it probably was thought very elegant once upon a time. I guess it has come from my paternal grandfather's side of the family and I think I will put it in my bathroom when I next have guests over.

Thank you for the book, Kirjakko! It is a pity that I was not at home.
This time inspector did things all by himself. I rather liked the story.
The book seems to be ready for a journey. Me too!
Happy reading!
Happy reading!
I noticed that this was on Soozreader's wishlist and as Annelis has just read it and I was trying out the first Ärräpaketti ever (they were in offer), I asked if Mrs Jeffries could travel on to Joensuu in it. Annelis had no other plans for the book, so on our way to Tallinn to release some other BC-books we made the transaction. That is how Mrs Jeffries got to see Tallinn as well.

Thank you very much for this wishlist surprise! In fact, Thank you very much for the whole box full of wishlist surprises! I only managed to collect it today as I don’t know if it is the spring with too much light but I have gone to unusually many social events lately (every evening this week)... Luckilly this Sunday we’ll change the time to summer time which will mess with my inner clock so much that I will be tired and antisocial until Midsummer :)
