It's 1940 and with London under fire, Edie and her little brother are evacuated to Wales. Miles from home and missing her family, Edie is determined to be strong, but when life in the countryside proves tougher than in the capital she is torn between obeying her parents and protecting her brother.

This reminds me of the stories my late mother in law used to tell of her evacuation from London in the wartime so I will read this before moving it on. On to tbr.

Glad I read this. A lot more detailed than my mother in law would admit to in general, but then, she also went into even more detail about the differences where she was evacuated to and her life in London so perhaps the change in emphasis is more about the characters of the people rather than how it was - after all, each has their own perspective.

It is refreshing to read how someone so young was also on the 'lookout' for the health and welfare of their sibling and how the war coloured all their lives for ever. Fascinating.

No specific plan for this at present but it may well be in another book box at some point!

I would like that this slip of a book should reach a more appreciative audience but no such thing here so sent for releasing in the fair city of Edinburgh during the Festival.

Arrived in a book parcel today Thursday 16 August with six others all destined for WILD RELEASE in or around the Edinburgh International Book Festival before it finishes on Monday the 27 August. So I am the spirit of speed combining this ‘release’ journal entry with the ‘caught’ journal entry.
