I found this fair-condition softcover at a local Savers thrift shop, and thought it looked entertaining - a pseudo handbook for Santa's workshop at the North Pole...

While I enjoy some good, snarky, bad-workplace humor - see Despair, Inc.! - I found this a little flat: repetitive, and not that hilarious, though there were some chuckles here and there. My favorite bits were the marginal notes by the disgruntled elves, who've marked up the handbook with their own reactions. The "Proper Conduct Around Reindeer" chapter had some high points, including:

"Keep in mind that reindeer are high-strung by nature. They have all been spayed and/or neutered, and they live forever. With that in mind, the best policy when it comes to the reindeer is to avoid eye contact. It freaks them out."

There's also a section explaining just what the "reindeer games" really are!

I smiled at the "work songs" section at the end of the book, too, which supplies get-work-done lyrics to the tunes of various Christmas carols:

"Wrap the presents very quickly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Stuff them into sacks quite briskly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
.
