SNAFU

He was supposed to fly to Hawaii for spring vacation.
She was supposed to go to Denver.
Instead, they decided to go together to a beach house in Balboa.

They thought they had it all fixed up. He wired his mother that he was restricted to campus for skipping classes, then called her father, mimicking the headmaster, and said that the school had decided Blythe should spend her vacation brushing up on geometry.

With matters supposedly arranged, Gordon and Blythe went to Balboa and it was fine while it lasted. Only it didn't last very long. Right away things began to happen and it wasn't long before the whole thing was all pushed out of shape.

It was the bending end, a real aped-up thing, a snafu to end all snafus....
