I found this good-condition softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. It's about a part-kraken boy (a kind of mer-squid?) who's sent to a special school... which turns out to be very different from what he'd imagined. There is some amazing imagery here, with reality and perception shifting as the characters discover who they can be - if only they can survive.
