A memorable tale of love and loss.
"Once, in a house on Egypt Street, there lived a china rabbit named Edward Tulane. The rabbit was very pleased with himself, for he was owned by a girl name Abilene, who treated him with the utmost care and adored him completely.
And then, one day, he was lost."

A miraculous journey, indeed. This is the harrowing tale of a china rabbit doll who is separated from his young owner and undergoes a series of harrowing adventures over a number of years before finding a happy resolution.
This is a beautiful, wonderful, moving fairy-tale for all children--including the child that lives in all adults. As a good fairy-tale should, it does not shy away from exploring the darkness in life; indeed in so doing, it makes the light shine more brightly.

Received from First Sentences VBB round 16. This sounds delightful, thank you! :)
Edward Tulane is a china rabbit, with real fur ears. He belongs to a little girl called Abilene, who loves him very much. But Edward is cold-hearted and superior. Then one day his life goes horribly wrong. He finds himself on an adventure, and several very unpleasant situations, and he meets lots of different people, and gradually he finds himself changing. This is a really beautiful story and I defy anyone not to be moved.
