This book begins with a lovely quote ...

"He loved the earth and all things of the earth .... He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard; he knew the lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to the lack of respect for humans too." - Luther Standing Bear, Ogala Sioux

This is something I firmly belief - when you see yet more tales of animal abuse part of me wonders how people can have such lack of empathy with another living creature and how they treat the people around them!

But that's beside the by - this book is something beautiful to flick through, enjoying the absolutely gorgeous photos. The quotes and poems were more of a hot or miss thing for me - while their sentiments and concepts were beautiful, I'm not one who believes that ancient wisdom is always the best wisdom. And not all so called ancient wisdom is what it seems to be!

So overall, a lovely book that I really enjoyed, but not one I would take too seriously.
