Since it was in my hands, I decided I might as well read it. Shouldn't have done so....
From the content:
Bella Main, regal owner of the Main Chance, the world's largest private bank, invites Tweed and Paula to visit her at Hengistbury Manor, the bank's HQ. Located in a massive Elizabethan mansion, hidden away in the forest in the deep south of Britain, the atmosphere is eerie and oppressive.
Bella tells Tweed and Paula that the ruthless European banker, Dubenkian, originally from east of Armenia, has demanded she sells him the bank. She has refused his offer. She asks Tweed to be her Chief Administrator, an offer he refuses. One week later Bella is horrifically murdered.
Tweed returns with Paula, determined to track the killer. All chief executives of the bank are members of the Main or Chance family, a number of them women. Tweed has already detected hate and deceit among the families. There are more murders. Who is to blame?
There is a shocking finale when Tweed proves the bank, founded in 1912, was created by a brutal crime all those years ago…
