I've been wanting to read this book for years, and I'm glad I finally got to it. It tells the story of Tomas & Tereza, a married couple living through political upheaval in Prague. Tomas is a hopeless womanizer, and the lives and loves of his many mistresses are woven in to the tale as well. One in particular, Sabina, has a particularly prominent role. The story also follows Sabina and another of her lovers, Franz. The story follows each of these individuals on the paths they follow through their own choices. It is a rich and multi-layered story, with a heavy dose of philosophy thrown in.
