6 out of 10

Got this fair-condition ex-library softcover from Better World Books. It's a spin on the zombie-apocalypse theme, with the story being narrated by a college professor who somehow retained his intelligence after being zombified. This does not, however, stop him from going after the brains of any living thing within reach - though he makes an effort once he realizes there may be other more-or-less-sentient zombies out there, and might even be a way to learn how to convert victims such that they retain some awareness.

I can't tell if this was meant to be a darkly-comic spin on the theme, or just a dark one. Some of the narrator's remarks are on the quip-to-mayhem spectrum, but overall I found it more grisly than grin-worthy.
