True Crime New Zealand, 1954. Two unhappy teenage girls become best friends. They imagine themselves better than mere mortals, are in a world of their own, and mastermind the brutal murder of one of their mothers. Because they are underage, they spend a few years in separate prisons rather than face the hangman. Once released, one becomes a successful author of fiction, the other a hyper-religious recluse. They never see each other again. This is a story of two youngsters with similar backgrounds who become obsessed with each other and distant from the real world. A very sad story.
