Found this in a box of free books in the street. Looking forward to continuing its journey.
The late Keith Moon playing the drums was one of the most entertaining things you could see. He appeared to be completely out of control, and slapped the skins like a seal, yet he kept the beat, and there is no one in Rock & Roll with such a unique style. He was perfect for The Who. I have read
"Who I Am", Pete Townshend's autobiography, and look forward to reading this one. (PS: I met Roger Daltrey in Jan. 2017 - while on vacation! He was very down-to-earth and fun to talk to!)

PS: This is karmic...today is Keith Moon's birthday. Happy Celestial Birthday, to the most unique drummer in UK rock history! Here's to Keith John Moon (Aug. 23, 1946 – Sept. 7, 1978)
In the Sound of Music, the Mother Superior asks (about the wayward Maria), "How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?". With Keith Moon, it would be, "How do you hold an exploding grenade in your hand?". We all know the ending of the story, but you still feel sad when it happens. I have never seen or heard a rock drummer like Keith Moon. He remains, for me, the most unique drummer in rock and roll. He didn't follow anyone, he made it all up as he went along. And, for sure, he was mentally ill. Whether the drugs and alcohol caused it, or the other way around, the poor guy was just a mess. He left destruction and great music in his wake.
One of the longest and most detailed biographies I have ever read......several jaw dropping episodes. It was a splendid book.
