1 journaler for this copy...
I got this slightly-battered softcover from the ongoing book-sale at the Pelham NH library. It's a sequel to Treasure Island. It opens with a nice "literary agent/found-document" premise: the author describes, in a very believable way, stumbling across the transcript of a Royal Navy hearing, one with enough Treasure Island-style pirate-attack details that he comes to think it must be the source of Stevenson's characters. And then the transcript mysteriously disappears... Cue the novel, with its opening and closing sections featuring the bits of the transcript that the author claims to have reconstructed from memory - and which have the original names changed to match the Stevenson characters. Fun concept!
[I didn't actually read this one; despite the framing device and all, it didn't grab me. Perhaps a future reader will post a rave review and I'll want to hunt up another copy and try it again!]
