From the back cover:
Fact blends with fiction, and the past with the near present in this intriguing account of the final years and mysterious death of painter Tom Thomson. A troubled American woman travels to the small Ontario town of Vernon, determined to find the mother she has never known. As she searches through dusty records and stirs up old memories among those around her, three young people emerge from the long-buried past: a beautiful woman named Jenny, a shy local boy named Russell and the handsome and ill-fated painter who is to change the course of their lives. Historical reality and conjecture are skilfully interwoven with intrigue and suspense as these three characters move unwittingly toward tragedy. As the American visitor digs deeper in her search for the truth, the repercussions of that tragedy reach the present time. An evocative love story and fascinating speculation, this book opens a window on events now shrouded in myth and raises again the question of what happened to Tom Thomson that early summer morning in 1917.

I enjoyed the book, I had no idea of the mystery of Tom Thomson's final days. It was a great read, especially since it was all here in Ontario. I will leave the book in the wild as I had meant to take it on my vacation to start a journey some where else but it will remain fairly local for the next reader.

Found this book in front of Starbucks at Hwy 10 and the 401 at about 11:30 am on August 10, 2017. Can't believe how excited I got....haven't started the book yet but I wish I had found it a week ago because I could have taken it to my cottage in Prince Edward Island. It would have continued it's journey 1700 kms away in Atlantic Canada....oh well. I'll start this right away and get back to you all!
