This is one of three books I bought from the discard sale table in Harrogate library this morning, chosen because I've long intended to read more by this classic mystery writer!
Amazon Editorial Review: "A classic mystery from the Golden Age of detection fiction.
Outside a London theatre a throng of people wait expectantly for the last performance of a popular musical. But as the doors open at last, something spoils all thought of entertainment: a man in the queue is found murdered by the deadly thrust of a stiletto."

A good old-fashioned classic detective novel featuring Inspector Alan Grant. First published in 1929 with all the lack of modern forensics that that implies . . . .

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
In the hands of the Royal Mail, carrying Happy Christmas and New Year Greetings to a BookCrossing friend! Enjoy!
Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!
Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!

Thank you Nu-Knees. Never read any Josephine Tey before, in fact I've never heard of her. What planet have I been hiding on? Looking forward to reading this.
Sorry for the delay in journalling.

Note to self: for earthcaroleanne when read
A classic style murder & very much of its time. There's some sexism, racism & classism but the author was writing in the 1920's not about it & which, as Deltic says, makes it proper old school :o)

On it's way to earthcaroleanne :o)
Thank you so much for sending this to me. I thought I should actually read something by Josephine Tey after reading a couple of Nicola Upson's Josephine Tey series.
