This book is in a Controlled Release!
3 journalers for this copy...
This good condition paperback was given to me by my friend Audrey D for bookcrossing.
It tells the story of the sudden death of British diplomat Nicky Fleming leaving his wife closed down with shock. Relocated from Cold War-riven Germany to a remote Hebridean island Letty Fleming is haunted by the unthinkable-was it an accident, murder or suicide?
I did read a fair bit of this book but found the time slips a little confusing and annoying. Also I'm not hugely into spy-type stories so I eventually gave up with it.

Welcome to bookcrossing -you have found a travelling book. Please make a journal entry now to say where you found the book in case it has been moved. Then, when you have read it, please come back and make a further entry saying whether or not you enjoyed the book and why. It is now yours to do as you like with it, pass it to a friend or just leave it somewhere different for someone else to find and help it with its' journey. Of course if you can't bear to part with it at the moment then keep it, but please let me know that you have found it. If you join bookcrossing, which is free and spam-free, you can follow the book on its' travels as you will get an email each time it changes hands, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine too. Please also say what you intend to do with the book next. Thanks for coming onto the site to let me know you have found the book.
I already have books travelling in many countries around the world-a list can be found on my bookcrossing profile.
When re-releasing this book please be aware that airports are not a good place to leave books unless they have a specific book exchange shelf or area, due to security problems, so they may well just be disposed of. Also charity shops may well discard books that have been labelled in any way and they mostly chose only the books in the very best condition
to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.

Thank you for the tag! Arrived safely today.
I enjoyed the start/end of this book but found it a bit slow going in the middle.

Loved this book. Part way through I wasn't sure if I'd like it, because I really did start to wonder where it was going, but I found the final resolution touching and surprisingly satisfying. The chapters written in varying points of view, particularly from the children, made it really interesting to read. At times I felt things did lag in some of the flashbacks, though. Spoilers below so don't read farther if you haven't yet read the book.
SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS:
As sometimes happens, it does feel like a lot of hurt could have been avoided by simple communication, but at least understanding came in the end. Also I would have liked to have known what happened to the man that was smuggled out in the vehicle. Considering that so much hinged on that, I found it odd that what happened to him was never mentioned, even in passing. And while I did think that what Nicky Fleming did showed how much he loved his wife, I did wonder if the risk to the island would really be considered enough impetus to make the extremely risky choices he made on account of it. And the painting/envelope seemed to have no real intended purpose, why did Nicky have it at all - it only seemed needed as a plot device so that they could discover the truth. But small quibbles - this was a book I really enjoyed.
