An impulse buy at Barnes & Noble. It was recently added to my goodreads list but not sure where I read about it that made me want to add it.

Kojiki (Kojiki, #1)Kojiki by Keith Yatsuhashi

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Interesting story idea, but just not for me. I found the story, in places, confusing. Actions seemed to be missing and the emotions did not have a genuine feel to them. I had to go back and reread areas to see what in the world I missed, but nope. I have no idea how they came up with C when A had no B to be added to. I wanted to finish the book but I dreaded picking it up.

Read to page 162 so that I could see Keiko and Takeshi finally meet and for him to fill her in on what happened to her father and what her role in the story is. Now, I'm done! No further.

I'm sure there are others that will have a better experience. I surely hope so.

Sadly I'm joining Spatial in giving up on this one. I like the concept, but I strongly disliked the stilted dialogue and motivations, and a lot of the assumptions characters were making were wildly out of left field. I kept frowning, re-reading, and trying to figure out what bit of thin air these claims were getting pulled out of. It was just too frustrating for me.

Hopefully the next reader will have more patience and ability to just enjoy the story.
