I found this good-condition softcover on the charity-sale shelves at a local Hannaford's. It's a true-crime book about cases in the state of New Jersey, from infamous ones such as the tragic Lindbergh kidnapping/murder to less well-known crimes. (I appreciated the author's introduction about the biases in selecting cases based on media coverage - for every crime that becomes infamous there are too many others where the victims don't receive the same amount of attention or sympathy...)
The cases range from those of the 1920s to well into the '90s, and include organized crime, madmen, lovers' quarrels turned deadly, and more.
One of the entries here features one of the most chilling modern-day killings I know of: the List murders, which I'd forgotten took place in New Jersey. This book's bibliography includes references to the books I'd read on the subject, both of which I recommend: Thou Shalt Not Kill and Righteous Carnage.
