From the back cover:"In the summer of 1932, the career of psychologist and investigator Maisie Dobbs takes an exciting new turn when she accepts an undercover assignment from the British Secret Service. Sent to pose as a junior lecturer at a private college in Cambridge, she will monitor any activities 'not in the interests of His Majesty's government'. When the college's controversial pacifist founder, Greville Liddicote, is murdered, however, Maisie is directed to stand back as her colleagues in Scotland Yard spearhead the investigation. But she soon discovers that the circumstances of Liddicote's death appear inextricably linked to the suspicious comings and goings of faculty members and students under her surveillance."

Started to read this book today.

Finished reading this book today - another in the Maisie Dobbs series that I so much enjoy. It is the early 1930's and Maisie finds herself getting involved for the first time with the Secret Service, causing her to take on a teaching position at a private college in Cambridge. As always, the author Jacqueline Winspear has researched a great deal about these times in pre-World War II Britain, including the influence of German politics on impressionable young adult minds.

I'll be passing this on to my sister, Maranlin, for her to read next.

This is another exciting chapter in the life and work of Maisie Dobbs, psychologist and private investigator. This time she turns her hand to teaching at a college as part of her assignment with the British Secret Service. There doesn't seem to be anything Maisie can't do, and do well! It is interesting to watch her character evolve, and the other recurring characters add interest to the story. I also like the subplots that are part of each book, and all of this contributes to the fact that I find it hard to put the book down once I get into the story.
