I found this book in a used bookstore and the back cover sounded very interesting. I'm putting this in the scifi bookbox.
I received this as part of lane1088’s science fiction book box. Can’t wait to read it!
Ebriel Serique is a concert flutist living in Paris with her husband and daughter. However, when her husband and daughter are murdered by terrorists. This causes her to closely examine her government, her beliefs and her very self. She ends up connecting with the resistance - the Maqui, or the Chain - and her world is turned upside down.
Ebriel is a very believable character. The emotions and actions shown are reflective of what would truly happen in real life. We are able to see how she changes as the story progresses. I enjoyed having a protagonist that I could relate to.
I didn't expect the ending, which is extremely realistic. It is not a sappy, story-book ending (small spoiler: but don't worry - it doesn't have a SAD ending - it just doesn't take the easy, predictable way out.)

Hmmmm, Reading the back cover, that sounds interesting, and I like the premise, but it also sounds as if it has the potential to rapidly become preachy… I guess I’ll find out lol
