Under such chapter headings as "Who Am I?" and "To Love, Honor, and Oy Vey," the Miami Bombshell group of six middle aged women —which includes high-powered executives, a TV producer, an Emmy-winning broadcaster and a school social worker—shares personal essays about marriage woes, mommy guilt, medical problems, depression and spirituality. When an issue is considered too personal—a violent date rape, an extramarital affair, a husband's mental illness—the essay is credited to "Bombshell."

The reviews are somewhat mixed on this one. Some consider it funny and inspiring, some call it vapid and shallow. I guess it really depends on the reader's age and experience.

As the review is so mixed, I decide to read the book first, I don't want to offer a bad book as a prize!!

Granted, the writing is somewhat uneven, but it's overall good, as it's published under a major publisher with editing. While the first few chapters may be lighter material, in later chapters they talk about the loss of a baby, of a grandma, the illness of a loved one, the childhood as an immigrant, and there is certainly nothing vain nor vapid about it.

Also, I decide to include this book in the prize, as it does say much about Miami culture. Yes, we have South Beach, so there is certainly the glamorous, lift-tuck part of life. The majority of the population has South American roots, so we are like a foreign country, too far south to be called Southern U.S. And oh yes, Cuban time, tell me about it. We have to tell our friends two set of meeting time to get everybody to arrive together. I used to belong to a paddling team; the "Americanos" would arrive a little bit before the practice time, while the others would slowly drift it. At which point the early arrivers would say, hey sorry but I have to leave now. If we start practice now I'd be too late for what I planned for the rest of the day...

So, lucky winner, I hope you enjoy the prize!
