The Gift of the Magi: and Other Stories (Penguin 60s)
2 journalers for this copy...
I got this slightly-battered little softcover from the charity-sale shelves at Hannaford's, for another release copy. (These Penguin 60s fit nicely into many geocaches; I got a nice catch on a previous copy.)
The title story is a classic, of course, and - as with many of O. Henry's stories - depends on a surprising twist, but I find that I can still enjoy it even after reading it a number of times. The other stories include "The Ransom of Red Chief", a hilarious look at kidnappers who find they've bitten off way more than they can chew; "The Rose of Dixie", and "The Memento".
[There's a TV Tropes page for the title story, as well as one for O. Henry himself. Do beware of spoilers, though; best to read the stories first!]

Haven't read it yet, but it looks intersting. However, it was also getting damp!! Found in a geocache which because of the recent weather, was very damp inside even though no water had actually gotten in. paper products just don't like this...so I decided to try to move it along to somewhere that will--hopefully-be a bit drier! (Maybe another geocache which is not hidden *on* the ground).
